FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Does UMC jury? No UMC does not jury, however there are rules we expect all our members to follow. To print those rules click on the SHOW RULES link above.
Do I have to be a member to participate in UMC shows? Yes.
If I spend summers in Maine can I participate in UMC shows? Only Maine residents are allowed to participate in UMC shows. UMC requires proof of Maine residency in the form of a driver’s license, or voters registration card.
How much are the booth fees? The booth fees range from $75 to $240 depending on the show, the booth size and location.
If I sell out can I break down and leave? No. You are required to be there for the duration of the show. If you no longer have anything to sell we suggest you keep a sample and take orders.
Why do I need to send photos with each application if they are already on file? UMC requires photos with each application because once they are recorded in the office they are sent to the show directors who need them to help with placement and compliance. The photos will be returned at the show.
When will I find out if I'm accepted into the show? Each show has a deadline. The show directors receive the applications after the deadline and should send out confirmations within two weeks. If the application is received after the deadline, you will be notified of acceptance within two weeks.
Can I cut one check for my balance due? Yes.
Why do some exhibitors get the same space every year but you move me around? UMC does not guarantee anyone the same space. If you request a certain space, the show directors will do their best to accommodate you.
I understand UMC limits each category to 10% of the show, how do your determine who gets accepted? If more than 10% of a category is received prior to the deadline, a lottery for space is held. The only exception is the Cumberland Show in August, where there are no category limits.
What does it mean, when you hold a lottery? The applications are given a number, and then numbers are randomly pulled, until the spaces or categories are full.
